The Quezon City government has officially declared an outbreak of pertussis, commonly known as “whooping cough,” due to a significant increase in reported cases of the respiratory disease. 

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a two-month-old baby boy has succumbed to pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. 

Maternal TDAP vaccination protects mothers and children from pertussis. Malaysia’s public health programme offers free TDAP vaccine for all pregnant women.
