The Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro region has unveiled a visionary plan to actively leverage the influential platforms of Masjids (mosques) and Madaris (Islamic schools) for health education initiatives. The initiative is designed not only to tackle immediate health concerns but also to establish a robust foundation for sustainable and resilient health practices in the region. This strategic approach actively recognizes and harnesses the pivotal role that religious sectors can play in productively disseminating health awareness programs within grassroots communities.

With Christmas drawing near and festivities in full swing, the Department of Health (DOH)-5 in Bicol is taking the lead in promoting a holiday season centred on health and safety. Arlene Riario, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) regional program coordinator, recently addressed the public in a press conference, urging them to prioritise nutritious foods and safe toys to ensure a festive yet health-conscious celebration.

Dr Koh stated, “The symptoms of prostatitis depend on the type of prostatitis as mentioned above. Acute bacterial prostatitis can cause fever, pain in urination, pain in the pelvic region, urgency and frequency of urination, chills and rigours. Chronic prostatitis may give rise to a long-standing ache in the perineum. It is usually diagnosed with examination of the prostate through a digital rectal examination, blood tests and urine tests.”

Senator Cristopher “Bong” Go advocates for the establishment of super health centers (SHC) aimed at enhancing the availability of public health services in rural areas. During the groundbreaking of the Super Health Center located at Barangay Malaguicay, Tanauan, Leyte, on September 28, Senator Bong Go voiced out his vision for proper medical services to rural areas in the Philippines. He said that the SHC will aid individuals residing in remote areas by providing them with improved access to healthcare services. 

A recent study shows that delaying sleep by just 90 minutes each night damages blood vessels, contributing to the development of cardiovascular diseases. A study conducted in the University of Columbia recently showed that mild sleep restriction among female individuals causes an increase in oxidative stress in blood vessels. It is the first direct evidence linking mild, chronic sleep deficits to causing heart disease.
