Importers must also complete a one-time registration of overseas insect processing establishments. This step ensures that the facilities adhere to stringent food safety standards. The registration process requires submitting documents that demonstrate compliance with Food Safety Management System (FSMS) or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans.
Once approved, each establishment receives a unique code. Importers must use this code for all subsequent applications. This measure ensures that regulated environments produce all imported insect-based foods, maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Application for Cargo Clearance Permit
After completing the registration steps, importers can then apply for a cargo clearance permit via TradeNet. This process involves using specific product and establishment codes, as well as attaching the necessary health certificates.
