As the rainy season sets in, the Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines is urging the public to be vigilant in preventing dengue fever.
Dengue fever cases in Indonesia have skyrocketed by a staggering 200% in 2024, leaving healthcare facilities overwhelmed. By April, over 621 dengue deaths had been reported, highlighting the urgent need to contain the spread of this mosquito-borne viral illness.
The Malaysian Auditor General’s 2022 report saw a lack of positive results in dengue control. Meanwhile, it also noted scientific evidence for fogging remains weak.
Health authorities have issued a cautionary note, acknowledging that these figures may fluctuate due to delayed consultations and reporting. It’s noteworthy that while most regions experienced a decline in dengue cases, Caraga and Soccsksargen regions witnessed an increase, reporting 846 and 645 cases, respectively, raising localised concerns.
