In a significant medical setback, Cordlife, a renowned private cord blood bank in Singapore, is currently grappling with a crisis. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has revealed that suboptimal temperature conditions have compromised the integrity of at least 2,150 cord blood units.  These units, crucial for potential future medical treatments, were stored in one of Cordlife’s tanks.

Approximately 65% of breast cancer instances in the Philippines are identified in the advanced or late stages due to insufficient treatment and delayed detection. Among Filipinos, the five-year relative survival rate for breast cancer is a mere 44.4%. The Philippine Cancer Society highlighted that breast cancer is the leading cancer in terms of both new cases and fatalities, not only in the local context but also on a global scale. The statistics reveal 27,163 new cases annually, resulting in 9,906 deaths each year for both genders.

The Malaysian Health Ministry has issued a voluntary recall for ‘Ah Lai White Curry Noodles’ and ‘Indomie: Special Chicken Flavour’ noodles from Indonesia after reports revealed the products contained ethylene oxide. The Taiwanese Health Department has also found ethylene oxide in the Indomie product. It has demanded a full recall.
