Heated models require an electrical connection and should be installed by a licensed electrician. Regular upkeep is minimal as well: check the temperature display, test the alarm once a month, clean the window, and ensure the lock mechanism works smoothly.
It is also a good idea to train staff or community members on where the AED is located and how to access it. After all, visibility is only useful if people know what they are looking for.
