Which technologies are included in this new endoscopy suite?

EUS Ultrasound – High-End Model Arietta 850

Derived from the ADVANTAGE PLUS Reprocessor platform, the ADVANTAGE PLUS Pass-Thru Reprocessor meets the strictest standards set by endoscopy units across the globe. Reprocessing four to five scopes in just over an hour is made possible by its pass-through capability and integrated smart technology. This enables quick, asynchronous reprocessing using touch-free operation and less scope handling. It is also the 1st unit among the hospitals in the KPJ group.

With the introduction of novel and user-friendly technologies, EVIS X1 seeks to facilitate the accurate screening and confident diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders by supporting their diagnosis and treatment. There are two units in KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital. Among the features are:

Extended Depth of Field (EDOF): EDOF creates a flawless image by fusing two photos taken at various focus distances, which facilitates diagnosis and assured decision-making. It provides smooth magnification and constant wide focus to provide excellent observation.

Dichromatic Imaging (RDI): The problem of gastrointestinal bleeding is severe and can result in high mortality and expensive treatment. By improving the visibility of deep blood vessels and GI bleeding sources, RDI aids in identifying blood vessels that may need emergency care. It uses wavelengths in green, amber, and red to see deep blood vessels. Hemostasis can be achieved more quickly and easily with easier bleeding spot identification, which may also increase the effectiveness of any related treatments.

Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging (TXI): TXI helps to clarify subtle tissue differences by enhancing texture, brightness, and colour, which improves the visibility of both potential and existing lesions. TXI seeks to enhance qualitative diagnosis and contribute to increased detection rates by facilitating improved visibility of both existing and prospective lesions.

Narrow Band Imaging (NBI): NBI is a well-researched optical technology that produces a sharp contrast between surrounding mucosa and vessels to enable a high-confidence optical diagnosis. NBI enhances qualitative diagnosis by supporting early lesion detection and by offering a more intricate, highly contrasted visualisation.

Pendant system for endoscopy

Multiple layer trays are included in the endoscopic pendant to accommodate the endoscopist’s equipment. The system has no trailing connecting cables or floor-mounted obstacles, and it can be oriented to fit any procedure.

High service capacity, flexibility, and maneuverability are a few advantages and features. In addition, it has a compact service console, electromagnetic brakes, coloured LED markers, a long reach, and a high loading capacity. The endoscopy suite at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital is the first in Malaysia to utilise a pendant system.

The new advanced endoscopy suite at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital has state-of-the-art equipment and the latest technologies. This offering will provide new diagnostic opportunities for doctors and their patients, providing a more seamless treatment experience.

Myopia In Children – The Hidden Consequences of Blurred Vision

CooperVision’s FDA-approved MiSight 1-day lenses have emerged as a solution to the issue of compliance with good efficacy for children. “In our 7-year trial for MiSight, we saw really impressive levels of compliance for MiSight. Because these are contact lenses, once they are put in, they stay in place, and there is less removal and replacement compared to spectacles. We’ve seen that it is common to wear 10+ hours a day and sometimes even up to 16 hours of wear during the trials,” said Shila Gupta, General Manager for Myopia Management at CooperVision.
