Singapore, 9 April 2026 – Mount Alvernia Hospital marked its 65th anniversary with the official opening of its new and upgraded facilities reaffirming its commitment to delivering quality, patient-centred care. The event was graced by Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies.
Founded in 1961 by the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood, Mount Alvernia Hospital began as a 60-bed hospital. Today, it has grown to a 353-bed hospital supported by close to 400 on-campus medical specialists and over 1,480 accredited doctors, and over 1,000 employees. The hospital offers multi-disciplinary clinical services centres, a dedicated building for mothers and children, and a comprehensive range of ancillary services.
As part of its ongoing efforts to meet the healthcare needs of the community, Mount Alvernia Hospital is officially opening the following new and upgraded facilities.
New Day Surgery Centre
- Day Surgery Operating Theatres:
Four theatres which can support ophthalmology and other surgical procedures, complemented by a recovery area for patients.
- Day Ward:
Designed for comfort and convenience, with bright, calming spaces, dedicated waiting areas, and staff rest areas to ensure quality care.
Upgraded Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit
- Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit:
Featuring 16 spacious rooms, including two isolation rooms, advanced medical equipment, bedside procedure capabilities, and centralised telemetry monitoring for critically ill patients.
